Foreign ministry event on sanctions and foreign trading

A business should know how the EU, US and UK sanction systems work.

How can a company prepare for the risks related to EU sanctions and more stringent limitations of foreign trade? How do the US sanction systems work and what should a business know about complying with them? What kind of sanctions has the UK imposed and why do they matter to businesses?

Many sanction systems, and the particularly broad sanctions on Russia, increase businesses’ obligations to inform themselves about sanction regulations. EU sanctions are legislation which is directly applicable to Finland, but American and British sanctions must also be applied in certain situations.

On 18 November in Helsinki, the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the US and UK sanction authorities, is hosting an event devoted to EU, US and UK sanctions, as well as their compliance and impacts on businesses.

The event is aimed at companies trading internationally. At the event, speakers from the Ministry, the American Office of Foreign Assets Control and Bureau of Industry and Security, and the British Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation will answer topical questions. The event will be held in English and may only be attended in person. For more information and to register, click here.
